3.1. Installation

  • Download the latest offline installer from https://www.avg.com/en-ww/installation-files-prd-gsr-free.

  • Run the avg_antivirus_free_setup_offline.exe file with administrative privileges.

  • If shown: Uncheck Yes, install AVG Secure Browser.

  • If shown: Uncheck Make AVG Secure Browser my default browser.

  • Select Customize.

  • Select RECOMMENDED PROTECTION.

  • Click NEXT.

3.2. Configuration

3.2.1. General

  • Open AVG AntiVirus Free by clicking on the AntiVirus Free icon in the Notification Area.

  • Select Menu > Settings.

  • Select the General tab.

  • Uncheck Enable AVG email signature.

  • Expand Exceptions.

  • Expand Special scans.

  • Expand Privacy.

  • Uncheck Participate in the community.

  • Uncheck Allow usage data to be shared with 3rd parties analytics.

3.2.2. Components

  • Open AVG AntiVirus Free by clicking on the AntiVirus Free icon in the Notification Area.

  • Select Menu > Settings.

  • Select the Components tab.

  • Click OK.

  • Close the AVG AntiVirus Free window.

3.2.3. Update

  • Open AVG AntiVirus Free by clicking on the AntiVirus Free icon in the Notification Area.

  • Select Menu > Settings.

  • Select the Update tab.

  • Click upper Update.

  • Click lower Update.

  • Expand upper Settings.

3.2.4. Troubleshooting

  • Open AVG AntiVirus Free by clicking on the AntiVirus Free icon in the Notification Area.

  • Select Menu > Settings.

  • Select the Troubleshooting tab.

■ Enable raw disk access uring AVG boot-time scan

  • Click OK.

  • Close the AVG AntiVirus Free window.
