Catacombae Software HFSExplorer is an application that can read Mac-formatted hard disks and disk images. It can read the file systems HFS (Mac OS Standard), HFS+ (Mac OS Extended) and HFSX (Mac OS Extended with case sensitive file names).

1. Installation

  • Run the hfsexplorer-0.23.1-setup.exe file with administrative privileges.

  • Click Next.

  • Click I Agree.

  • Select Typical.

    ■ HFSExplorer
    ■ Register .dmg file association
    □ Register .cdr file association
  • Click Next.

    C:\Program Files (x86)\HFSExplorer
  • Click Next.

  • Click Install.

  • Click Finish.

2. Usage

  • Attach the external USB device with the Mac file system.

  • Start HFSExplorer.

  • Select File > Load file system from device.

  • Click Autodetect.

  • Click OK.

  • Do your thing.

  • Close HFSExplorer.

    • Select File > Exit.

  • Detach the external USB device.
