1. Enable

  • Select Apple icon > System Preferences.

  • Select Security & Privacy.

  • Select FileVault tab.

  • Click the lock icon.

  • Click Unlock.

  • Type the password.

  • Click Turn On FileVault.

    ○ Set up my iCloud account to reset my password
● Create a recovery key and do not use my iCloud account

  • Click Continue.

  • Backup the recovery key.

    • Copy the recovery key to the clipboard.

    • Start PuTTY on your Windows workstation and connect to the Mac.

    • Type pbpaste and press Enter.

    • Copy the recovery key and store it in the KeePass Password Safe.

    • Note: Ignore the % sign at the end.

    • Close PuTTY.

  • Click Continue.

  • Click the lock icon to re-lock the settings.

  • Close System Preferences.
